Through the Horizon GreenFit Project, MaYA and Merill Rural Network are part of a major European consortium bringing together 20 partners from 10 different EU countries. Their role as pilot partners is to work directly on the ground to test climate-smart agricultural technologies and explore the challenges of adopting them across the Maltese rural context, geography, community, and economy. This hands-on approach helps highlight the real-life barriers faced by Malta’s small-scale farmers and feeds practical insights back into research - contributing to the development of scalable solutions at an international level.

SEED’s role supports these organisations in engaging meaningfully with the European research and innovation scene, to ensure that Malta’s specific agricultural realities are recognised within European technological advancement.

A stimulating three-year journey has now begun, offering a unique opportunity to once again create a platform where local stakeholders can engage, contribute, and shape the future of farming by bringing Maltese knowledge and experience into a wider European conversation.
